The Kissing Tree!

The Kissing Tree!
I've been watching this tree all winter waiting for the right moment. The mistletoe is growing and quite bright but the buds on the tree have not yet started appearing. Unfortunately not the blue sky I was hoping for but it seemed this was the right time.

These are the first images I've taken with the G6 since I mothballed it whilst my sight was recovering and I've been really rather excited to use it - I know; sad woman!!

Thanks once again for the condolences and good wishes - they worked and I've put a little explainer in guestbook messages on my front page.

Eva Lewitus, Fred Fouarge, Schussentäler, Roger (Grisly) and 9 other people have particularly liked this photo

Lovely. So the tree wouldn't mind if I kissed it? ;-)

Edna, I really don't know tree policy on humans kissing them, it might be considered sexual assault, so I'd err on the side of caution and leaf it out!
Mistletoe's morals however are something else: individual balls positively encourage unsuspecting humans to kiss just to satisfy their own rampant desire for voyeurism!!

I've never seen a tree with so much on it. Gorse is more reliable the saying is that 'kissing has to stop when it's not in bloom' it flowers for most of the year !!!!

A very interesting tree here, even in this poor light. So that is what mistletoe looks like on trees. I have seen scenes like this before but never thought of mistletoe. Glad to hear your health is getting better. I like this frame. Well done

Thanks for sharing with our UK Landscape Photography Group , Herb

I love the shape of this tree Maggie...............and it looks lovely covered in mistletoe. Despite the grey sky, the light is still quite lovely and has brought out some nice detail and colours.

I definitely wouldn't advise kissing the trees though as the fruit, leaves and stems of mistletoe are all poisonous............keep the kissing under it, not on it :-)))

I love the close up shot in the PiP.......there really is a lot isn't there?

The G6 is still a cracking little camera, one of my friends used to use one. My wife has a Panasonic FZ100 which she hardly uses (and which I'm planning to steal)!

Good to have you back and in good spirits.

Glad you like it Keith.

Don't steal the FZ - just hang on to it and call it a long term loan! I can't afford to update the G6 but it's done, and is still doing, okay for me. I like having a choice of lenses again!
