The famous lighthouse at Rubjerg Knude was in imminent danger due to 1.5m coastal erosion per year. I visited just a few weeks before it's historic move in 2019.

It was expected that the tower would fall into the sea by 2023; however, works to relocate the lighthouse started on 14 August 2019, and on 22 October 2019 the 23 metres (75 ft) high lighthouse, weighing 720 tonnes, was moved 70 m (230 ft) inland on specially built rails. The cost of the move was 5 million Danish kroner (£0.6m; €0.7m; $0.75m) and was paid by Hjørring Council with government funding. The move is expected to secure the future of the lighthouse at least until around 2060. (Wikipedia)

Moving that lighthouse must have been an impressive piece of engineering............I'd have loved to have been there when the move took place!

A beautifully composed shot Maggie, with lovely details. I especially like the windblown sand!

Apparently there was a small multitude there to observe!!

The wind comes straight off the North Sea and it stings! I didn't stay up there long as I was concerned about LWDs eyes, mine were reasonably safe behind my glasses.

What a wonderful photo! Love the composition, the low perspective, the blowing sand, the colors, that beautiful lighthouse and the story of its move.

Der Leuchtturm wurde 1968 außer Betrieb genommen, danach bis 2002 die kleineren Gebäude als Museum und Café genutzt.
