Cemetery Snowdrops (+PiPs)

Cemetery Snowdrops (+PiPs)
Taken in the cemetery of St Mary's church in Buriton, Hampshire. I think I probably got these images just in time as some of the snowdrops are starting to die down.

This is quite heavily cropped to get rid of a lot of distracting stuff, so best viewed large if you have time. There are a couple of PiPs as well.

Nouchetdu38, Fred Fouarge, Berny, sea-herdorf and 23 other people have particularly liked this photo

You've composed this well, Keith; not only with the snowdrops but also with the array of crosses. Great stuff, sir.

Really beautiful Keith, and even more so viewed large. Cemeteries are a great source for pictures of flowers and memorial stones, as you show us here. Both crosses are beautifully captured and enhanced by the snowdrops at their feet. Three superb shots.

There are not many snowdrops where my parents are buried but in a week or so, the cemetery will be covered in daffodils.

Glad you like these ones Rosa.............this cemetery was very unkempt (so good for wildflowers), but quite difficult to get a shot that wasn't full of distractions.

We actually stopped to feed the ducks in the adjacent duck pond.........so a lucky find really.

The chaotic distribution of crosses..
The simplicity of these cemeteries fascinates me, Keith!

Yes, there were quite a few crosses and fallen gravestones...........the whole cemetery was quite unkempt.

Cemeteries are nearly aways good for photography though±!

Is it naughty of me to like the PiPs best? Especially the Celtic cross, the detail is fabulous Keith, it almost looks recent (well the image certainly is!!)

Keith Burton club has replied to MaggsMep club
Ha, ha.........not at all Maggie. I liked the crosses as well.

I just had another look at the Celtic cross.........the dedication on the base is dated in the early 1800s, but the cross itself seems to be in much better condition and made of a harder material, so maybe it's not deteriorated much, or possibly it was a later replacement?

Wow that's a large swath of snowdrops Keith. As I said when I posted mine, they seem to be abundant this year. As usual a great catch here and I like the PIPs too.

Cheers. Herb

Two splendid crosses, the Celtic one deserves to be more than just a PiP. Yes the you were about 10 days to two weeks late for the best of the snowdrops, Keith.

Keith Burton club has replied to Amelia club
I wish I'd found some earlier, but there's nothing really impressive near me........these were a 15 mile drive away (we were on the way out to get some lunch, but decided to stop and feed the ducks in the pond next to the church on the way).

Glad you liked the crosses.
