Lone Tree

Lone Tree
We were driving up Portsdown Hill, Hampshire on a busy dual carriageway yesterday afternoon and spotted this tree through a gap in the hedge. I quickly found a safe place to stop, and managed to walk back down the hill without getting myself run over, to take this photo. Luckily, my wife is used to me doing this sort of thing.........and carries a book to give her something to read until I get back to the car!

Please view large, if you want. Have a splendid Thursday :-)

A fortuitous shot Keith! I love a lone tree and the shape of this one is worthy of a photo. The sky is also beautifully captured. Your wife was well prepared, with a book ;-))

Have a great Thursday. Looks like a nice day here!

She is indeed Jean-luc. We've been married 50 years, so she's had plenty of time to get used to me.

It sound like we're both lucky men!

It is so fascinating to see how branches twist and bend into such interesting shapes! This one is a wonderful example.

I also do that, well less and less because it is more and more difficult to find a place to stop… glad your wife loves you enough to be cool about this !

I enjoy exploring Isabel and I'm lucky that my wife is so understanding Isabel. She uses a stick to walk with now (arthritis) and we cannot go out walking as much as we used to.

Perfectly spotted and the resulting photo is marvellous! Lone trees look especially good without leaves an the slight mist makes it very atmospheric.
