A View from Old Winchester Hill

A View from Old Winchester Hill
Looking across some lovely Hampshire countryside on an overcast but very warm day. Some blue skies and sunshine would have been nice, but you have to take what you get sometimes :-)

Another view in the PiP.

Thanks to everyone who has visited my photo-stream over the past week or so, especially if you have left a comment and/or a yellow star. Have a new good week..!!

Günter Klaus, Jörg, Nouchetdu38, trester88 and 14 other people have particularly liked this photo

Nice view and PiP too!
What is New Winchester Hill like, Keith and do we get to see a shot of it sometime? ;o)

Thank you Andy.....glad you like the photos.

There isn't a New Winchester Hill - as I suspect you know - but we don't need one. This one has everything we need. It is a 66.2-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade I, and a national nature reserve.

A gorgeous view Keith. Today you would have had a blue sky! With the high temperatures, the grass will soon be turning straw colour, but it's looking good for my fig tree :-)

A beautiful Hampshire view. Have a good new week.

Thank you Rosa.........and yes, you're right about the blue skies. We only popped out to one of our local garden centres today to buy some new bird feeders (and have coffee and cake), but that was enough for us..............it's far too hot, so we're sticking to the house and the shady bit of the garden :-))

Have a good week yourself.

Same here Keith! I also bought 2 new bird feeders last week :-)

I somehow missed your PiP on my first visit! It's beautiful and even then the animals were very sensibly in the shade of that gorgeous tree!!

A reply to the earlier weather-related part of this thread, Keith and Rosa!
Temp. tonight no lower than 29ºc but humid as well, which is the part of the equation no-one can stand!
So I won't sleep and might as well use the time to do some housework on my ipernity pages, if you see what I mean. The only problem with that is trying to stop the sweat from cascading into the keyboard!
I'm typing this only in a pair of boxers and a cold wet towell draped round my neck! I would post a selfie of me for my next upload but I think there might be rules against that sort of thing!
A sweaty goodnight from me!

Andy hahaha I see you...
my son also wrote to me a few days ago in Perugia and Foligno (Umbria) the temperature during the day was 42.5°.

Oh dear Andy! I do feel for you. Last night I took a hot water bottle to bed with me, that had been in the freezer all day. It was very cooling, just to rest my wrist on! BTW, I don't think there is a rule against it Andy ;o))

Rural England at its best Keith. As Rosa says, this will be turning colour as I type with todays high temperatures. Well done.

Thanks for sharing with our UK Landscape Photography Group , Herb

Thank you Herb.............it's a lovely area and only half an hour drive from where we live. It's a bit to hot for us lately, so we'll be staying indoors or in the shady bit of the garden mostly.

I hope you're managing to keep cool...............it's sweltering here in the south, so we're not getting out much.
