Tree Clearance

Tree Clearance
Taken in Stansted Forest, West Sussex. It seems a bit sad that all these trees have been cut down, but it is all part of the management of the forest. This area will eventually be replanted and lots of new trees have already been planted nearby.

ROL/Photo, Ulrich John, Annemarie, Frans Schols and 10 other people have particularly liked this photo

Takes a while for a tree to grow. I hate to see them cut down, but know that it is sometimes necessary.

A lot of conifer are being felled up our way. But these look like deciduous trees. Birch in fact?
Nice capture.

Cheers. Thanks for sharing with our UK Landscape Photography Group , Herb

Yes. But they take time to grow. I also feel sadness. Luckily, Spain is the second country with the largest extension of forests after Sweden. It's not a bad thing. Yesterday I was in the Valsaín forest where Anthony Mann filmed the wars against the Germans in The Fall of the Roman Empire.

There is a lot of work going on in the UK to try and restored our forests. Millions of new trees have been planted over the past few years and a lot of non-native trees are being replaced by native varieties. It is of course a slow process and some of the people planting the trees will never live to see them reach maturity.........a proper act of faith.

I'd never heard of the film you mention (a bit before my time), but the Falsain forest seems to be very beautiful.

Thanks for dropping by Anton.

Néanmoins les coupes claires sont mauvaises ; une bonne gestion consiste à laisser quelques arbres adultes pour ne pas détruire la biodiversité brutalement

I believe they're doing their best to do just that in this particular area Dan. They seem pretty committed.

You have recorded it beautifully Keith. I remember seeing area such as this that are now looking good with healthy new trees.

Thank you Rosa. To be honest, I think this area was overdue some rejuvenation, it was an overgrown mess. I hope I live long enough to see it properly re-grown :-))
