The old apple tree has lost its bark but the fungi is magnificent and beautifully captured Keith.

wonderful. very good to put to another use too, we lost our apple tree to fungus and I was sad but now I have a light filled corner which is the upside. great detail here Keith. well worth a photo

Thanks Jan. I was originally going to turn it into a bird feeding table by putting some wooden trays on top, but I eventually decided to leave it "au naturel".

We have only one small apple tree left now!

Thanks Colin..............the birds do quite like it. We tend not to feed them at this time of year though, as there's usually plenty of natural food around.

What an interesting arrangement!! I've never seen one like it before. It's like a frilly scarf beautifully decorating the old stump. I'd not chop it down

In der Natur geht nichts verloren. Der abgestorbene Apfelbaum ist Nahrung für den Pilz.
Es tut mir leid, dass du jetzt keine Äpfel mehr ernten kannst, Keith! Aber die Pilze am Stamm sind ein gutes Fotomotiv.
