Little Egret

Little Egret
Captured flying over the Mill Pond at Langstone Harbour, Hampshire. Unfortunately, I only had a 12-100mm zoom lens on my camera, so this is a huge crop!

Andy Rodker, Rosalyn Hilborne, Aschi "Freestone", Frans Schols and 5 other people have particularly liked this photo

Thanks folks............glad you like this one! There are dozens of egrets and a few herons all living at the rear of the mill pond.................but they're usually too far away, even for my longest lens. I'm always pleased when I manage to get a half-decent shot of them.

Man erkennt jede Feder und auch, dass Reiher im Flug den Kopf zurücklegen. Ein ausgezeichneter Schuss, Keith!

You have done a great job with that lens Keith! It stands out beautifully against the nice blue sky!

Tack sharp viewed large! I know about the lens not being long enough, I only have 280mm on full format and often have to crop a lot....

My longest lens goes to 300mm - with the Micro Four Thirds crop factor this equals 600mm in 35mm terms. Still not long enough for small birds or long distance work - and not very fast either, so only really usable in good light.

Olympus is rumoured to be bring out a 200-400mm zoom this year...............I'm seriously considering selling a kidney to get one :-))
