White Leaves - Butcher's Broom

White Leaves - Butcher's Broom
I found this lying on the top of a compost heap in a churchyard. I gave it a bit of a shake to remove some soil and then wedged it on top of a post to take this shot!

I suspect it's the same plant as this: www.ipernity.com/doc/keithburton/48193344

Edit..........Thanks to Gudrun for her ID of both plants (below). I've updated the title and notes.

Ernest CH, Andy Rodker, trester88, Janet Brien and 3 other people have particularly liked this photo

The form of the leaves suggests butcher's broom (ruscus aceulatus), but that's evergreen! The white stuff might be mildew.

You made the silvery leaves stand out well against the background!

You're spot on Gudrun...........thank you. I've had a Google and found a couple of images of Butcher's Broom with white leaves - although no explanation of why! I've now updated my title and notes.

Glad you like it, and thanks again!

I don't know what it is either Keith, but you did a grand job of setting this shot up! It looks so good against the blurred and bokeh background.

This is really beautiful, the color is wonderful! I absolutely love that you found it in the GARBAGE. Talk about immortalizing something that was destined for the dump, NICE ONE! And don't you have good eyes to spot this opportunity?! It is a very pretty branch though, the leaves have a very pretty shape. The silvery-grey-green leaves remind me of eucalyptus but I've got to be wrong on that, since the leaves on those trees are long and narrow. Also, the smell gives them away immediately.

Nice job, very handsome bokeh too. :)

Thanks Janet...............see my amended notes for ID.

It's always worth having a poke around when you're looking for something to shoot..........luckily it was on the top of the heap! Thanks very much for your generous comments on this and all my other photos.............I always appreciate your input :-))
