Looks beautiful. Maybe a bird brought it as a present.

Never though of that..........I have a bird feeder near where I found it, so seems likely!

I found something similar in a container too, similar flowers but square and purple / red stems. No idea at all what it was but it flowered vary well that summer (coudn't find it in any reference books and it had obviously self-seeded in a garden centre. I went back to the garden centre the following year ot see if they had it only to find it had closed down. I wish I had been taking photos in the 80s and 90s!
