TSC and Sight and Sound A Beginning My mom taught me how to knit when I was very little, maybe 7 years old. To this day when I start a project it is still as exciting to me as it was back then. To "Cast On" (co) in knitting, is always "A Beginning." ELP (from their Trilogy album 1972): From the Beginning or From the Beginning

Take a Pebble

Sight and Sound and NOT TSC (for the "Stone" challenge (assuming we can use stone/rock somewhat interchangeably....) This is the rock wall that is behind our wood stove in our living room. Each rock here came from the Skokomish River here in Washington state. These are some of the very last river rocks legally taken from the river back in 1997 as they quit issuing permits to do this shortly after we were there. (Maybe we were too rowdy? ;) My song to go along is from the ever wonderful Emerson, Lake and Palmer from their 1972 debut album ELP: Take a Pebble or Take a Pebble

TSC - Stones If you sit on my front porch in my chair (from last week's challenge) you will be looking out over these welcome bunnies at this flagstone path that was laid by a really nice guy named Calvin. (If we keep this up, eventually you guys will see my whole yard. ;) And a song to go along: A Stone's Throw Away

Chair or bench. (All settings on Manual.) My wooden chair (hand made by a Montana man over 25 years ago) that I sit on and do a bit of reading or just watch the day go by, for a while, most days.

The 2 challenges I chose were "White Balance" and "Selective Coloring." I took the photo with my white balance set on "incandescent" which gave the leaves a blue tint and then went into PicMonkey converted it to b/w and used selective coloring to color the leaves back in.

NOT TSC

This one was my main pick until I realized I'd forgotten to do any "in camera" processing. I did the other steps though, so I hope it can be allowed into NOT TSC... My 2 challenges of choice were: "something that warms you" and "selective color" This is Remy and his good friend Mike. If you go down our road you will almost always see them playing. They are the best of friends. Remy is coming to show me his bright, orange ball. You would be proud of me. I used full "Auto" mode, something I almost never do anymore. :)

Sunset on Wildcat Lake I have to admit that I didn't really understand the purpose of this particular challenge, but I got to use my longest lens and quite enjoyed the whole experience. (There's another one in the note.)

This is Anne and Molly who are great buddies and always cuddle together. Soundtrack to Life Although I was only 6 years old when this song hit the radio I remember it well on the ride to school in the bus. We had a nice bus driver who always played the radio for us. (A good bus driver is a blessing. :) The Kinks (1965): Tired of Waiting for You Tired of Waiting for You Tired of Waiting for You

The Sunday Challenge - Photograph a Stranger

31 Jan 2015 7 26 366
"Photograph a Stranger" This was a weird one for me this week. I felt like I was doing something wrong photographing someone like this... very out of my "comfort zone" but hey, it's a challenge right? Time to step up. I tried out my "Shutter" mode (thanks AutoPaul) and my Panasonic 45-200mm lens for the first time and used auto focus. OMG, I don't like it now that I've been using manual, but I didn't think I had the time for manual so I left the focus up to my camera (which it seemed to struggle with somewhat.) I did my "stake/steak-out" at the local corner store/BBQ and Grill. "Smokin' Robinsons" has a BBQ outside that smoked the area up quite a bit. It didn't seem all that smoky while I was there, but the camera sure picked it up and I wound up with only one useable shot. I would say that I focused on this gentleman's profile mostly as he pumped his gas (at only $2.09 a gallon for regular, I might add.) It's not my best entry, (I would have liked a much more crisp focus) but I'm glad I made it after a week of nursing an injured shoulder. I hope it passes the test you guys.

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss - Sister Rosetta Go…

Soundtrack to Life Just for Roger (and at his suggestion) I am posting this as the 1000th song in our wonderful group. From the Robert Plant and Alison Krauss 2007 album "Raising Sand" here is: Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us I was very intrigued by the title of this song and wondered just who "Sister Rosetta" was? Here is what I found. (What a cool lady!) Sister Rosetta Herself (1964): Didn't It Rain About the song by Sam Phillips: www.songfacts.

3 of a Kind I don't know why, but this was a tough one for me this week, just deciding on a subject and then being happy with the outcome after leaving it until the last minute. Urk!! This is a photo I took of a framed photo in my house. I took it in color using manual focus and then converted it to black and white. I also did a little p.p. using PicMonkey. 3 Beatles and the age old question.... who is your favorite? Hopefully you can tell by my focus. (Of course I love them all and it really pained me leaving John out of this shot, but I had to think for myself, right?
