This week in SSC: "Collections or Hobbies" Some of you might remember that I have a collection of 1960's vintage Barbie dolls. I thought I'd feature one of my favorite girls from 1967 in her pretty spring fashion. It's hard to believe that these dolls are over 50 years old already. They have to be kept away from bright light or their vinyl faces will fade. Otherwise, they've held up pretty well all this time and kept their value too. This verbena has been a real star in the yard this summer. It really is this neon too and is still blooming. The hummingbirds, butterflies and bees all really enjoyed visiting it this year. Verbena is usually treated as an annual here but I was so pleasantly surprised to see it return this spring even after our really cold temperatures last winter. Life is funny. Yesterday I was stung by a yellow jacket and today I am posting a photo of a honey bee :)) Isn't he cute?! Honey bees I like very much but yellow jackets are just aggressive and so very rude.
