Too Baaad...

Too Baaad...
This week in SSC

"For the first challenge of the year, the topic will be creative minimalism using only one subject in your photo."

This is not a style I'm real familiar with but that's what this group is all about, right? ;-) It seemed the more I read about it the more I got my genre's confused. I played around in my new light box with different colored backgrounds and wound up with 2 images (one in the note.) I hope at least one of them "fits the brief" as they say.

..and for Sight and Sound

Something from Bad Company from their "Burnin' Sky" album (1977)

I like this shot and love the sheep!
I feel lost by this kind of discussion. I have no idea what lightbox is! I see it at the top right of pages here but it also has 'z' next to the word. I always assumed it was a duplication of pressing z on the keyboard but I've never really worked out what the benefit of it is!
Please excuse my ignorance! I promise you that I will press lightbox instead of the Z key when next asked to do so and I will be eager to find out what happens!!! :o)

Hi Andy. The little sheep is so sweet. He came in a set of four. 3 are white and one is black. :)

The "light box" we are talking about is not on Ipernity. It is something used to take photographs in like this: www.atopdaily.com/top-10-best-photo-light-boxes

The "lightbox view" on Ipernity is just the full screen function which you can also get by clicking on the little box in the corner, by clicking on the photo, or by pressing z on your keyboard. I hope that helps clear things up for you. I know it's confusing.

Great composition and colors.

Not bad at all, but there are actually two items. I realized this topic easily also attempted to use "negative space". Nothing wrong with that, but personally I then found it challenging not to use negative space.

Hi, Sami. The challenge was to use only one "subject" and I was seeing the sheep as my subject here. :)

I missed the second shot on PiP. And you are right. Pedestal complements the subject perfectly.

The one in the note is cute but I really love the main photo with the red background and the sheep:-) As Sami says you actually used two subjects but what the heck...;-)
A lightbox is something I never thought of, it's an idea worth considering!

Danke, Gudrun. Like I said to Sami, the challenge was to use only one "subject" and I see the sheep as my subject here. :)

The light box is fun and you can use any kind of backdrop you like in it. The one I got has LED lights in the top front and back and also a dimmer switch. It's cheaply made but what isn't these days? ;-)

I mean, it fits perfect to the challenge, Karen.
The red background is a highlight, gives an excellent contrast to the sheep's white and the objective's black. In the end: it's ONE objekt - every sculpture needs a pedestal ...

Love the contrast against that most striking backdrop. Even more striking on black. So much detail here. Adore the Baaad sheep.....I want one, please :-) An ace musical match. I think I'm now a Baad boy 'cos I think I've just woken up the neighbours!!!

Thank you, Karen, for posting to Sight and Sound : Pictures & Music

Lol, Roger!. I'm glad you like my little sheep. He's part of a set of 4 that I got years ago. It even includes one extra baaaad black sheep. ;-)

I enjoyed the little sheep and the whole image itself so much... emotionally and artistically , immediatelly!!
Though feeling lost in that kind of technical discussion :-), then I appreciated your so patient and kind efforts to make it clear ... really thank you! I don't know when as I am pretty lazy , BUT basically always curious;-) : sooner or later I'm sure I'll try it!Thank you and HAT oFF!

very very nice (although ,I must confess, the "there are two objects" - thought came to my mind instantly as well). What the heck, it is a nice sheep and picture.

Hi, Henning. Yes, there are 2 things in the photo but only 1 subject. Here is an example photo that was used for this challenge for us to follow : www.photocrowd.com/photos/little-girl-on-a-bench-1191557.0bd9d9de3

I am not seeing any difference between my image and that one. Both have a "subject" that is on something. This is what I based my image on. Maybe it's up to the viewer? :)
