The Old Grammar School, Market Harborough
This Tudor timbered building was founded by Robert Smyth in 1614 and has the unusual feature of being supported by huge oak legs. The lower floor was once home to the local butter market as the school continued to practice in the upper levels. Later on, it was around 1868 when the initial restoration took place. However, the premises were vacated by the school for pastures new at the end of the 19th century and in the 1970's more restoration work was carried out which included the widening of the alleys adjacent to the building.
