Interstellar? Borges? Eco?
This is the French IMEC library, an institute where people can donate one's archives, located in the authentic (and remote) abbaye of Ardenne, Normandie.
Inside the main abbey building lies a grafted structure, all wood and glass, fully separated from the ancient arches, which hosts zillion of books and archives in a mega-futuristic library where among others from one floor you can see both the upper and lower galleries (and visitors) trough the glass ceiling, in a surrealistic way.
(see the PIPs!)
To me this reminded memories from Borges Babel's library, or perhaps, the medieval 'Il nome della rosa' from Unberto Eco!
But when I told this to the postdoc student besides me, in a blink I understood I was some remnant from last century : ignoring these references, he replied "yes for sure this is like in Interstellar, the movie".
So, now you know.
If these pics remind you of Borges or Eco you are a living fossil, like me. Interstellar is the way ;-)
