What's This World Coming To?
The thing about this particular image was that I've been taking pictures just like this for my entire adult life; with one exception in this particular instance. There were some kids playing in this yard about 20-30 feet away. While I was lining this shot up in the viewfinder, in the back of my mind popped the thought, "Gee, I'd better not even come close to aiming my camera at those kids. In this day and age, a 50 year-old-man could get crucified doing something like that." Even though I'm just a normal photographer and have been taking similar shots since 1976, the masses have been brainwashed to think that I'm some kind of mass child murderer in hiding and will snatch kids right off the street without a moment's hesitation. Never mind the fact that I was loaded down with two cameras and my sunglasses and keychain. All of a sudden, I'm the threat and that's not right. I resent being suspected like that when I haven't changed in 35 years! What is this world coming to?
This fire hydrant didn't look like all the other "normal" ones I saw along this street; which are normally painted red and white around these parts. (Or so I am told.) Don't know why this particular one stuck out to my photographic eye.
