Yes Graham, it even looks like a dish I had with a friend in Kumamorto that was Muso soup with local noodles vegetables and pork. The spoon was however made of wood.

It was. The meat came apart ok using the soup spoon and an extra cup of noodles was supplied, see note. I was surprised at how satisfying it was.
