Top view of the the co-ax connection point. Years ago my TV antenna was performing poorly so I took it down to check. I found it had a printed circuit adapter, AKA balun, to interface the antenna's balanced dipole element to co-ax cable. I found a printed circuit inductor was open circuit. This was replaced by a thin insulated wire. When reinstalled it work much better. October 2012.

Thanks for your comment. The antenna is still good. It only spent a few more months in the weather mounted on the pole above the roof. I moved it to in the roof space, that is above the ceiling and under the tiles, when I mounted a ham radio antenna on the pole.

There is no cable TV in my city, it's only in the major coastal cities. Pay TV is delivered by satellite here. Australia's low population density outside of the state capitals has made satellite a more economical method. We don't have it as TV isn't very important to us. Increasingly TV and movies are delivered by the internet. This improved for many by the Government creating a national internetwork. This is delivered by fibre, fibre to node with copper for local connection or radio. I've just got a fibre connection to replace my ADSL.

It is a piece of fibreglass printed circuit board. The screw in the centre holds is the connection for the inner wire in the cable to the TV. The two small circular holes at the top are for a metal clamp which holds the cable in place and makes the connection for the outer shield of the cable.
