City Hall Maryborough

Completed in 1908, Queensland architects Hall and Dods. Maryborough was founded in 1847, was proclaimed a municipality in 1861, and became a city in 1905. During the second half of the 1800s, the city was a major port of entry to immigrants arriving in Queensland from all parts of the world. The name was derived from the Mary River which was named in 1847 after Lady Mary Lennox (1790–1847) the wife of Sir Charles Augustus Fitzroy, then Governor of the colony of New South Wales. 155/365 Spotlight on Angus

Quite tricky catching Angus in a still moment, and in the right light :-) This weeks theme is a portrait one and is all around using a single strong light to create a spotlight effect…We'll be looking for strong directional light with a sharp line between the lit and dark portions of the subject… Also, as with all portrait themes, the subject must be alive, no toys or other inanimate objects.

Tin Can Bay Foreshore, Queensland. The foreshore walk follows the bay right around. A great place to walk, and cycle. Always great breezes :-) Sunday challenge... Vanishing point B&W

mushroom art

Simplicity, à la Edward Weston One of the important photographers of the 20th century. He produced photographs that transformed his subjects into abstractions of shapes and patterns. He strove to capture the essence and beauty of everyday objects... My photo styled after his original artwork here... www.canvastar.com/en/edward-weston-mushroom-art-print
