Noosa Main Beach, Laguna Bay, Queensland.
38 Noosa residents took part in history as relay runners for the 2018 Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton.
The motif was carried 7km through town, with community parties celebrating its departure from Tewantin, and its arrival at Noosa Main Beach.
Champion Noosa Ironwoman Jordan Mercer was the last baton bearer, running the last leg from the middle groyne to First Point along Noosa Main Beach.

On 21 Feb Cyclone Oma was creating waves and frothy water all around the Noosa National Park in Queensland. I took this photo at Noosa Headland on the Coastal track. We walked the track with a friend who was visiting from England.

We took the ferry from Tewantin to Noosa Heads, had brunch at Bistro C, and wandered along the boardwalk and Hastings Street. The beach was busy!

At Noosa Surf Club, Queensland, looking out to Noosa Main Beach, Laguna Bay.
Still beautiful on a rainy day, and plenty of beach activity, surfers and swimmers.
Tropical downpour from Cyclone Oswald, January 25th 2013.
The first steps in the history of the Noosa Heads SLSC occurred on April 1, 1928 when Alexandra Headlands Club visited Tewantin and "the Heads" to give a display for local men. And so began the "Cooroy Royal Life and Surf Club". A public meeting was held on 9th April 1928 at Cooroy and on April 30 the name was changed to Noosa Heads Royal Life and Surf Club. In December 1928 thirteen members gained their Royal Life Saving Society Still Water and Surf Bronze, thus qualifying to patrol the beach.
In 1929 a club House was placed on the beach and in May 1931 the name was changed to Noosa Life Saving and Surf Club. Since then the club has continued to patrol the beach with the proud record of no lives lost on Noosa Beach while lifesavers were on patrol.
In the 2008/2009 season the club underwent a major refurbishment. We are now very proud to have a clubhouse rated as one of the finest on the Sunshine Coast with "the best seat on the beach".

Hey Bill

I was taking a photo of the Hey Bill refreshments trailers on Noosa Boardwalk when Bill waved to me. I went over and took a photo of him, and asked if he would like to be on the Internet. He said he had been on the Internet a few times.
I mentioned my 100 strangers project and Bill said I should take a photo of his two friends there. One of them, Angie, said she had a story about Bill. In the 70s he was already involved in Noosa tourism by helping to keep the beaches clean, and she knew this because she had helped him at the time.
Later he started selling oranges to locals and visitors. Hey Bill is a Noosa icon, having worked on the Noosa beaches for over 40 years. He now has a quad bike with two trailers offering Coffee, Spring Water, Drinks and All Things Nice.
He says come on over any time and say 'Hey'.
Many thanks Bill, it was a pleasure to meet you and your friends :-)
You can read more about Hey Bill in this 2009 article..

You can see Bill's trailers reflected in his sunglasses :-)
