scene of a flat tyre

scene of a flat tyre
We were on our way to Gloucester today, and bounced in a massive pothole, had a shattered wheel and flat tyre, and had to come home, as the spare tyre wasn't that good.

We were very lucky that a young couple were passing and volunteered assistance, which meant half the time to change the wheel/tyre, which is a write off. Quite a shock... could have been worse if we had swerved on the road.

Quite a scenic location just past Germany Lane, on Avalon Road, near Krambach, New South Wales, Australia.

We have now reported the pothole to the council, so hopefully they will fix it soon.

Nouchetdu38, Esther, tiabunna, Annaig56 and 7 other people have particularly liked this photo

Bl..dy potholes!
The only nasty accident I had on the roads was riding a bike to school in the gloom of early morning and not seeing a new pothole! The only time I've had broken limbs and ribs in my life! And in those days, no-one thought of suing the council!!
You certainly could have had it a lot worse!
In the circs, this is a very pleasant scene and shot!

Thanks Andy, what an awful experience for you.
It had been reported to the council before, they knew about it. You would think they would put up road hazard signs or something. Must be pretty deep to actually shatter the wheel. Council say they will offer compensation, in due course... We will end up with 4 new tyres as one VW replacement tyre is very expensive, and there is only one in the couuntry.

Well, I was only 9 and I remember the kudos at school with the plaster casts and the messages written all over them!
I do hope you get compensated for those BMW wheels!

You managed to get a lovely photo!
The road looks deceptively smooth, I wouldn't have suspected a pothole there. Glad that nothing serious happened.

Thanks Gudrun. The couple who stopped to help us had also had a flat recently in the same area.

Thank heavens it was a lovely clear day - imagine if it had been raining. I think the council should reimburse you for a new tyre as well as repairing the hole.

Yes, the circumstances were good to us, and I even had photo opportunities. The council say they will offer compensation.

A beautiful scene and image, Gillian. I guess, despite the damage to the wheel, this is some compensation. Let's hope all the many potholes are soon fixed.

I don't think Ian was particularly impressed by the scenery, but very lucky to have a place to pull off, and I had some photo opportunities :-)
