Almost unbelievable. What would it be like to live in a place like that? The hive life. But it makes a fascinating abstract, if not an indictment.

Living on this side of the building you'd have a great view of Lake Ontario, Bob. This is on the edge of an escarpment that runs through Toronto, so your view would be better than the view from the expensive condos down on the lakefront.

I probably couldn't afford it, then.

Few people can afford anything in Toronto. And it's still cheaper than Vancouver.

I love the individual nature of the chaos on these balconies; it is evidence of lives being led as they are lived rather than as being curated or considered by outsiders. An excellent composition, John, with the beige edges of the brickwork on the central spine. (It does not seem to be habitations; perhaps the central stairwell or lift shaft?)

Thanks, John. I hadn't thought of a stairwell as a possibility. I'll have a closer look when I'm back on the computer.

I wouldn't want to live in such a place..........excellent views or not, but I also know that people need somewhere to live and for most, they probably don 't have a choice.

Anyway, I really like the abstract nature of this shot...........I do agree with Old Owl that the individually of the occupants can be seen by viewing the shot large and examining the balconies.

A cracking capture John.

Thank you, Keith. The thing I like about apartment living is waking up in the morning in winter and listening to somebody else shovelling the snow.

Fantastic if looked at with the abstract in mind John, but I couldn't live in any high rise, I'm a rural girl (apart from doing my training in central London, when I had to live on the fourth floor of a Victorian mansion!!) - just show me to the village ...

There is a pleasant low-rise neighbourhood behind it, Maggs. With a huge park. Something for everyone.

A fascinating image John. There are pros and cons to living in big blocks of flats I guess. I imagine the views from the higher floors are good but what if the lifts break down and you are on one of the top floors? Having flats below and above you should keep the flats in between warmer and as long as they are well managed living somewhere like this would be fine.
We lived in a block of flats that was nice when we moved in but poor tenants, anti social behaviour and poor or non existent management eventually made living there hell. The noise alone made conditions bad. We now live in a retirement flat and the only thing to worry us is the complete silence!!!!!

I've had those problems, too, Carol. The apartment I live in now is pretty good, but, as you note, things can change. As I mentioned to Keith, if someone else is shovelling the snow I'm pretty happy.
