Ah, very much like my "wares" shots, mostly from Turkey. Though that elephant clock is over the top, as they say (who is the they that says that?) Well worth the attention of a photo.

I first heard "over the top" in that sense from English people, Bob. It seems to have caught on here, though, by which I mean Canada. Now thanks to COVID19 the Canadian press has adopted "jab" for "shot". Saves a letter, I guess.

Those clocks are amazing. From an era where someone else did the dusting. Here in Scotland people very often get a jag rather than a jab. I think it depends a bit on where you are on the social scale.

I was amazed by the detail on them, Jean. As you say. it's a lot of work for somebody, preferably someone else. And your observation explains a lot of modern design, too. You can't hire people for a pittance any more to clean ornate things.

What eclectic mix of items...............the clocks look like the sort of things you get as presents from the in-laws which you hide immediately and only bring them out again next they visit (so I'm told) ;-)

Fascinating stuff!

(PS. I quite like the elephant clock..............but don't tell anyone).

Thanks, Keith. The store was closed at the time but I've always regretted not going basck to buy the elephant clock.
