The making of a wine goblet - Part V (Explored)

The making of a wine goblet - Part V (Explored)
After the body of the goblet has been blown and shaped, a molten portion of glass, called a gather, is attached to the bottom. While still soft, it is stretched to form the stem of the goblet. Once the stem has the correct height, another gather of glass is placed at the end. The gather is shaped to form the base of the goblet and heated to prevent cooling until it has been worked into its final form.

What a fantastic picture, Esther! Steve and I went to a couple of glassblowing shops when we were in Provence, France. It was really fun to watch them working and creating such lovely glasses and other wonderful things. Thank you for sharing all of your pictures with us! I am going to take a look at them now although I will not be commenting on them, I did want to see your lovely presentation. Thank you very much.
