Pretty Petticoat
Chinchero, Peru is a village at an altitude of approximately 12,500 feet in which many of the locals still dress in traditional attire. The women, particularly unmarried ones, braid their hair and wear woven clothing and red felt hats. Their skirts are plain black, but they wear decorated petticoats underneath that are normally not exposed to the public. There are a number of weaving cooperatives in the village that allow the women to earn an income.
