A Mandala of a dish of Guinea pig

A Mandala of a dish of Guinea pig
Even I was amazed how this mandala came out. See the origin in the PIP

Ruesterstaude, Fred Fouarge, Erhard Bernstein, Boarischa Krautmo and 5 other people have particularly liked this photo

What a gorgeous mandala! It's just beautiful!

Oh dear...you ate a guinea pig...nooooooooo!!! *cry* I love these adorable little guys so much... but I do know they are often eaten in many places. What did it taste like I wonder? I think I need to look that up because I'm curious. Thanks for sharing...it was very interesting to see how a prepared piggy-pig-pig looks when its cooked!

EDIT: Now I know: "Cuy — as it’s known to the locals — tastes a little bit like duck; almost a grey meat, it’s very rich and very oily.

I can only imagine you were in Peru?

These guinea pigs are raised for meat. (like chicken... and I also love to see little , adorable chicks) Guinea pig meat is high in protein and low in fat and cholesterol
Guinea pigs were originally domesticated for their meat in the Andes. Traditionally, the animal was reserved for ceremonial meals by indigenous people in the Andean highlands,
Because guinea pigs require much less room than traditional livestock and reproduce extremely quickly, they are a more profitable source of food and income than many traditional animals.
The taste depends on the way it is cooked; fried (chactado or frito), broiled (asado), or roasted (al horno), or in a casserole or a fricassee. Mine tasted more like a chicken.
I live in Perú, since 1940.
