CJ Srike Dam on the Snake River, one of three built by Idaho Power on the Snake. None of the three dams have fish ladders, thus fish that migrate inland from the ocean to breed (e.g., salmon) no longer breed in the upper portions of the Snake.

I hadn't seen a wood bridge in years and saw no explanation as to why this was wooden. The dam was built in the early 50's so age would not explain the reason for the bridge being wood.

North of Steens Mountain and above a farming area is Diamond Crater. The Diamond Crater volcanic area is fairly large with good access -- and almost no visitors. The craters are on the Diamond Loop Back Country Byway.

East of Steens Mountain is a gravel road running along the edge of a large salt flat. There are a number of hot springs in the area, and people go wind-sailing on the flats.

Driving up to Anthony Lake I had seen signs saying the road was closed, but when I got to the point where it had been listed as closed, there was no barrier. I went ahead, but did pass several spots with snow (and tree limbs) still on the road.
