Cologne Basilica of St. Kunibert (#0499)

Cologne Basilica of St. Kunibert (#0499)
For an introduction to my time in Cologne, see the photo posted some month's back (https://www.flickr.com/photos/donbrr/45961404084 )

Walking near my hotel in Cologne, I came across a door with what looked to me like either bizarre caricatures of humans or abstractions of monkeys. Looking closer, I realized they were of humans. I could not find any specific reference to the sculptures on the door or archway (adjacent pictures), but this is an entrance to the Basilica of St. Kunibert, a Romanesque church dedicated in 1247 and the sculpture may be Romanesque art. The church was severely damaged in WWII and rebuilt after that.

I thought so too and was surprised there was no documentation near by about it.
