Palm Springs tree trimmers (# 0710)

Whenever the palm tree trimmers are in the neighborhood, I'm reminded of all of the anti-immigrant diatribes. The men doing the trimming are mostly Hispanic with limited English ability, so probably recent emigres. They’re very courteous and skilled, removing furniture that might get damaged, doing a very good job of cleaning up afterwards, trimming trees very neatly, all while the temperature is 100F or more. They’re most likely poorly paid, and they do work that most Americans would either refuse to do or would demand double to triple in wages and benefits.

They’re classic examples of the American spirit of motivation and commitment, despite a national leader who was just two days day before only a 3-4 hours away (in Phoenix) stirring up anger against them.
