My second day in the Yosemite Valley area, I was going to Hetch Hetchy. Since I was staying in Mariposa, back roads through Coulterville were a good route. The Hotel Jeffrey is the centerpiece of the town. It was built in 1850 to serve travellers to Yosemite. Per the link below, it suffered fire damage in 2014 and is currently in the process of restoration. Coulterville is on a remote section of CA-49, thus the hotel is a dramatic sight on that section of highway -- hopefully it can come back to life. www.hoteljeffery.com
