This island was two islands when I was here in 2013, and boats were driving through the gap. The lake was about 28 feet lower when you took this pictures than it was when I was here.

I've been on the lake when just the little tips of those islands were sticking above the water (above the bathtub ring). It's been a while back, tho-- The lake was pretty full in April 2001, when we rented a houseboat at Echo Bay for a combined family trip, but it's been dwindling steadily ever since.

Thanks for that link--it's a striking change, tho I seem to remember that 2011 was actually a pretty good water year. Going to that other site was also a salutary reminder in how cumbersome it now is.
