Berlin Wall Memorial 1966 (#2508)

Berlin Wall Memorial 1966 (#2508)
An illustration of the progression of the wall, with the Protestant Church of the Reconciliation Parish as reference point.

In this photo, taken in 1966, the apartment building and other buildings having been torn down so as create the death strip. Note that the outer wall, at this time, is made up of the facings of the buildings that were there, thus providing clear reminders of the apartments.

Photo is of a photographic series in the Wall Museum. See: www.berliner-mauer-gedenkstaette.de/en/chapel-of-reconciliation-216.html

No further Western propaganda should have been needed--this photo says everything you'd need to know about the East German regime.

One thing that surprised me was that I don't recall seeing any photos like this when the wall existed. I remember even having trouble visualizing what the wall was like.
