SF Telegraph Hill Transamerica (1258)

SF Telegraph Hill Transamerica (1258)
Transamerica Pyramid, from North Beach. Finished in 1972, the building became almost instantly synonymous with SF and still remains so, though somewhat ironically since the building is no longer the headquarters of Transamerica. Though the building is still used by the company and is in their logo, the company moved their headquarters to Baltimore.

A similar situation to the Sears Tower here in Chicago. I think Sears left the building in the '90s, but the building kept the name until two or three years ago. They changed it to 'Willis', but nobody local calls it that.

At least they didn't rename it "K-Mart" tower! (Doesn't K-Mart now own Sears?)

I still think of the Golden Gate Bridge as the icon--
