SF North Beach `corporate goddesses' (1250)
I had wondered about these statues for years. Looking at them from the ground near the building, they look like horrific faceless ogres that might have been transferred from some sort of macabre cemetery to the top of a downtown office building. I now know that my assumption is only half off. Per the article below, the architect wanted them as a "whimsical flourish" to the building and has described them as representing the "ghostly nature of financial work". See the article for more details: articles.latimes.com/2007/jan/04/local/me-statues4 Photo taken from North Beach
