Lava Beds National Monument (2412)
A fire tower atop Schonchin Butte, a cinder cone; the fire tower was built by the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps). You could climb to the tower and walk around the perimeter. The views were dramatic but it was quite windy and cold, even in July.
