Camp Tulelake (2447)
On the opposite side of the valley from the location of the former segregation center, was Camp Tulelake. The camp was originally built by the depression-era Civilian Conservation Corps, early in WWII it was used for a period to house Japanese who were considered too 'difficult' to keep at the internment camp, and then in the latter years of the war it housed German and Italian POWs who worked in the fields in the area.
