Friday 29 June 2018 (1106) – Stagecoach East 15201, (YN64 ANV), an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in November 2014, seen turning from Market Road to Station Road in St. Ives. The full lock of the front wheels enables clear sight of the guidewheels used on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway. Due to depart from the bus stop behind the camera at 1100 the bus was already running late and the parked delivery van was impeding progress. There was quite a load of passengers to take on board before the bus finally got away. A further delay ensued at Histon caused in the attempt to load a giant pushchair on the bus. It was about 17 minutes late by then.

Friday 29 June 2018 (1106) – Stagecoach East 15201, (YN64 ANV), an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in November 2014, seen in Station Road in St. Ives. Working Busway service B, it had just arrived from Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Huntingdon and was already running late. Due away at 1100 it had to load quite a number of waiting passengers. A further delay ensued at Histon caused in the attempt to load a giant pushchair on the bus. It was about 17 minutes late by then.

Friday 29 June 2018 (1107) – Stagecoach East 21310 (BF65 WKZ) seen leaving St. Ives bus station working service Busway service A. It is a Wright Eclipse Urban 3 bodied Volvo B8RLE new in December 2015. The bus station exit is between the Old Cattle Market Gatehouses built in the 1880s.

Friday 29 June 2018 (1134) – Three vehicles held up at Histon on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway due to the difficulty in accommodating a rather long two seater push chair. After playing musical spaces on the leading bus the young mother had to eventually get off but she was able to continue by using one of the buses behind. The leading bus is Stagecoach East 15201 (YN64 ANV), an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in November 2014, heading for Cambridge (Drummer Street) via Orchard Park on service B. (I think this was due here at 1119 already late leaving St. Ives, this delay didn’t help the driver’s schedule at all) Next is Whippet Coaches WG103 (BF63 HFB), a Wright Eclipse Urban 2 bodied Volvo B7RLE new in September 2013, heading for Cambridge (Drummer Street) via Milton Road on service C. (Due here 1131) Third in line, on which the young mother chose to ride, is Stagecoach East 21231 (AE12 CJJ), a Wright Eclipse Urban 2 bodied Volvo B7RLE new in July 2012, on service A. Friday 29 June 2018 (1134) – Stagecoach East 21231 (AE12 CJJ), a Wright Eclipse Urban 2 bodied Volvo B7RLE new in July 2012, at Histon on Busway service A. A little story to tell regarding the young mother and her ‘twelve metre long’ double seat pushchair. This was the third of three buses bunched and held up for a time whilst she attempted to park the pushchair in the forward area of the first of the buses, an Enviro400 double decker. (Isn’t it always the case that if there are already two pushchairs on the bus more will appear?). After the mothers already on the bus had unsuccessfully played musical spaces to try to make room for her this mother had to eventually get off but she was able to continue by using the third of the three buses. In a foreign accent I heard her ask the driver of this bus something along the lines of ‘Have you godda da spice?’. The driver had so the lady boarded with her pushchair and the bus continued.

Friday 29 June 2018 (1137) – Stagecoach East (Cambus) 19579 (AE10 BWM) is seen at Histon as it crossed the tracks of the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway when working the 1111 service 8 from Cottenham to Emmanuel Street, Cambridge. The Busway, which opened in 2011, was built on the alignment of the former Cambridge to St. Ives railway line which opened in 1847. The old station building still stands on what had been the Cambridge bound platform. The Busway platform for Cambridge bound buses was built to the right of the bus whereas the St. Ives platform occupies the same site as that used in railway days (on the left). Wednesday 5 September 2018 (1105) – Stagecoach East (Cambus) 15463 (AE09 GYN), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in March 2009, seen reversing off the loading stand at Bury St. Edmunds bus station setting out for Newmarket on service 11. Whilst the brackets used to hold the guide wheels for operation on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway remain in place, it would appear that the guide wheels themselves have been removed.

Saturday 22 September 2018 (1537) – Stagecoach East (Cambus) 19611 (AE10 BYA) seen travelling on the A505 just after leaving the Duxford Imperial War Museum working an Airshow Shuttle to Royston railway station. It is an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Trident new in April 2010.

Wednesday 24 October 2018 (1215) – Stagecoach East (Cambus) 27855 (AE13 EEB), an Alexander Dennis Enviro300 new in March 2013, seen leaving Pampisford when working the 1212 service 7 from Pampisford (Chequers) to Cambridge city centre.

Wednesday 24 October 2018 (1219) – Stagecoach East (Cambus) 19582 (AE10 BWP), an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Trident new in April 2010, seen approaching the turning point of the 1135 service 7 from Cambridge city centre. For many years this point was defined as Sawston (White Horse) in the timetable.

Wednesday 24 October 2018 (1222) – London Road/Brewery Road, Sawston/Pampisford. For many years this point was defined as Sawston (White Horse) in bus timetables. The pub was the building beyond the parked double decker. Stagecoach East (Cambus) 19582 (AE10 BWP), an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Trident new in April 2010. It was taking a break having arrived at 1219 as the 1135 service 7 from Cambridge city centre that would return at 1234. Passing by is A2B Bus and Coach Company Limited KX57 FMF, an Alexander Dennis Enviro200 that had been new to Stansted Transit of Stansted Airport in July 2007. It was working the 1200 service 7A which operates from the Trumpington Park and Ride site via Great Shelford, Sawston, Hinxton, Whittlesford, Duxford Airfield and Heathfield returning to Trumpington.

Saturday 8 December 2018 (1200) – With a Christmas HO HO HO overhead and a rear panel advert for a pantomime, this view hints at a seasonal flavour despite what looks like blazing summer sunshine. (Whilst the side advert also looks like a line from a panto it is actually a non-seasonal advert for a Cambridge girl’s school!) Stagecoach East (Cambus) 27854 (AE13 EEA), an Alexander Dennis Enviro300 new in March 2009, seen in Market Street, Ely bound for March on service 39.
