Saturday 20 April 2002 – Galloway European Coachlines 134 (N665 JGV), an Ikarus Citibus bodied DAF SB220 new in August 1995, seen on layover in Bury St Edmunds bus station after working the 0920 Saturdays only service 320 from Westhorpe. Sometime later the drab all white livery was relieved with Galloway’s more modern yellow and blue relief and it was re-registered 1482 PP. www.ipernity.com/doc/davidslater-spoddendale/33484025

Wednesday 3 September 2008 (1207) - Galloway European Coachlines Limited of Mendlesham (near Ipswich) 188 (1440 PP), a UVG Compass (originally a Caetano design) bodied Dennis Dart new in March 1997 to Marchwood Motorways registered R558 UOT. It was parked in Bury St Edmunds bus station opposite the loading stands. At the time, particularly on Wednesdays and Saturdays which are market days in Bury, the bus station got very busy and the layover bays were constantly occupied. This resorted to some buses having to be parked in this position along the side wall as was Stagecoach (Cambus) 20321 (N321 VMS), an Alexander PS bodied Volvo B10M that had been new to Fife Scottish (321) in December 1995.

Wednesday 3 September 2008 (1207) - Galloway European Coachlines Limited of Mendlesham (near Ipswich) 188 (1440 PP), a UVG Compass (originally a Caetano design) bodied Dennis Dart new in March 1997 to Marchwood Motorways registered R558 UOT. It was parked on the exit road of Bury St Edmunds bus station alongside Triton House. At the time, particularly on Wednesdays and Saturdays which are market days in Bury, the bus station got very busy and the layover bays were constantly occupied. This resorted to some buses having to be parked wherever a space could be found. The spire of St. John’s Church forms the backcloth.

This resorted to some buses having to be parked wherever a space could be found. Suffolk County Council supported service 320 offers one inward trip from Eye at 0855 operated by Galloway on Wednesdays and by Fareline Coaches on Saturdays. There is a return trip at 1230 as far as Finningham (which then connects with Galloway service 456 at Bacton for Eye) and a 1356 service numbered 321 running via a different route to Finningham which then continues through to Eye. I suspect the same vehicle works both homeward journeys running empty from Finningham to Bury for the later trip.

Thursday 24 June 2021 (0826) – Risbygate Street, Bury St. Edmunds. Right is Stephensons of Essex 648 (BV55 UCT) seen in Risbygate Street, Bury St. Edmunds. It is an East Lancs Omnidekka bodied Scania N94D that had been new to Blue Triangle, Rainham in December 2005 (SO1) for use on Transport for London contracted services. Left is Galloway Coach Travel 333 (YJ65 EWG), an Optare Solo new in November 2015, seen in Risbygate Street, Bury St. Edmunds. It was working the 0710 service 384 from Stowmarket which had set down at the bus station and was now continuing to West Suffolk College and St. Benedict’s School.

Wednesday 16 December 2020 (1548) – Christmas lights adorn the ancient Market Cross and buildings in the Market Square, Mildenhall as a Galloway Plaxton Centro drives by. It was working for the related Stephensons of Essex business on a school contract duplicate.

Friday 8 July 2022 (1114) – A constant stream of traffic prevented any clear shots of Galloway European Coachlines 107 (BF68 LCM) as it stood in Crown Street, Ipswich between runs on National Express services 251 and 482. Today it performed the following trips: 0605 Ipswich-Stansted (0800) service 251 0925 Stansted-Ipswich (1105) service 251 (display showing is for that trip) 1135 Ipswich-London (Victoria) (1520) service 482 1630 London (Victoria)-Ipswich (2020) service 482 Galloway has operated for National Express for many years and currently has eight Caetano Levante III bodied Scania K410 EB6 in the fleet numbered 101-108 which were all new in January 2019. In addition to services 251 (1 round trip daily) and 482 (5 round trips daily) the other services worked by Galloway include service 250 (Ipswich-Stansted-Heathrow : 2 round trips daily) and service 075 (Bury St. Edmunds-Cambridge-London : (1 round trip on the complete service plus 1 short London-Cambridge round trip in between all daily).

The loading point for National Express services is in the lay-by next to the Cricketers public house in Crown Street the rooftop and spire of which are visible on the left. Today this coach had previously worked the 0605 Ipswich-Stansted (0800) and 0925 Stansted-Ipswich (1105) trips of service 251 before taking up the 1135 Ipswich-London (Victoria) (1520) service 482 returning as the 1630 London (Victoria)-Ipswich (2020) service 482. Galloway has operated for National Express for many years and currently has eight Caetano Levante III bodied Scania K410 EB6 in the fleet numbered 101-108 which were all new in January 2019. In addition to services 251 (1 round trip daily) and 482 (5 round trips daily) the other services worked by Galloway include service 250 (Ipswich-Stansted-Heathrow : 2 round trips daily) and service 075 (Bury St. Edmunds-Cambridge-London : (1 round trip on the complete service plus 1 short London-Cambridge round trip in between all daily). The two Ipswich Buses vehicles either side of the coach are Optare Tempo X1200SR 96 (YJ12 GWN) and Scania N230UD OmniCity 48 (SGZ 3348).

Friday 8 July 2022 (1139) – Galloway European Coachlines 107 (BF68 LCM) setting out from Ipswich on the 1135 National Express service 482 to London (Victoria). The loading point for National Express services is now in the lay-by next to the Cricketers public house in Crown Street (to the right off camera). Departing coaches then loop round through Tower Ramparts bus station to then turn left to Crown Street. Synchronised with the left turn indicators note the additional flashing warning light to warn cyclists of danger. Galloway has operated for National Express for many years and currently has eight Caetano Levante III bodied Scania K410 EB6 in the fleet numbered 101-108 which were all new in January 2019. Today this coach had previously worked the 0605 Ipswich-Stansted (0800) and 0925 Stansted-Ipswich (1105) trips of service 251 before taking up the 1135 Ipswich-London (Victoria) (1520) service 482 returning as the 1630 London (Victoria)-Ipswich (2020) service 482. In the background is the Crown Pools swimming pool centre which Ipswich Borough Council announced (in June 2022) plans to close and re-develop the site with residential housing. The plan is to build a replacement pools and gym leisure complex near the Ipswich Town stadium.

Sunday 14 August 2022 (1224) – Stephensons of Essex and Galloway European Coachlines are affiliated companies in the Eastern Transport Holdings Group. Seen at the Galloway premises in Mendlesham, Suffolk are two Stephensons Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro200 single deckers, 433 (EU10 NVS) new in August 2010 and 463 (YX11 CTU) new in June 2011. On the right is Galloway 102 (BF68 LCE). Galloway has operated for National Express for many years and currently has eight Caetano Levante III bodied Scania K410 EB6 in the fleet numbered 101-108 all of which were new in January 2019.

Sunday 14 August 2022 (1221) – Vehicles parked at the Galloway European Coachlines premises in Mendlesham, Suffolk. The two Optare Solos are 332 (YJ65 EWF) and 333 (YJ65 EWG) which were new in late 2015. On the left are two Volvo B7TL double deckers, one with East Lancs bodywork (extreme left), the other with Alexander ALX400 bodywork. In the far distance between them is YT59 DYX, a Scania 230UD OmniCity that had been new to London United (SP107) in October 2009.
