Vehicles seating 29 to 37 passengers are employed on the town service routes whilst some of the rural village services are worked by smaller vehicles. The two leading digits of fleet number 1502 (AU67 CVX) indicate this vehicle is a 15 seater.

Here is a line-up of Wright StreetLite buses parked in King’s Lynn bus station. Left to right: SK68 TXM, a StreetLite DF (driver forward) model new in December 2018 as a demonstrator. In base white yet with full lettering and graphics. The other buses are StreetLite WF (wheel forward) models. SK18 TKN new to WNCT in May 2018 in company dark blue with full lettering and graphics. SN69 ZVS new to WNCT in September 2019 in an overall advertising livery for a local newspaper. SK68 TNE new to WNCT in September 2018 in company dark blue with full lettering and graphics. MX11 CZJ new in March 2011 to Hartwool of Bicester in company dark blue with full lettering and graphics. The application of fleet numbers on the vehicles appears to be somewhat random. Four digit fleet numbers are employed with the first two digits indicating the seating capacity.

Friday 14 January 2022 (1010) – The First Eastern Counties garage in King’s Lynn, which stands to the right of the camera in an adjacent road, is home to most of the twenty or so Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 City bodied Scania N250UDs which operate the Peterborough-King’s Lynn-Norwich Excel service. Driver changeovers take place on London Road near to the town’s ancient South Gate part of which is seen in the photograph. In the background is 36918 (YN69 XZY) on an Excel service C journey. Passing by heading back to the town centre is Go to Town (WNCT) 3703 (SK68 TNE), a Wright StreetLite WF new in September 2018, which was working service 6 (Bus Station (0950)-Sainsburys (1000)-Tesco (1004)-Bus Station (1012)). Go to Town is the trading name of WNCT Limited (West Norfolk Community Transport) one of the operators that has become more prominent in the King’s Lynn area operating a range of local bus services. The South Gate is the only surviving gatehouse for the town of King’s Lynn and dates to the early 15th century. As well as being part of the town’s fortifications it was also used to control entry into the town and until 1741 a gatekeeper was employed to collect tolls.

Go to Town is the trading name of WNCT Limited (West Norfolk Community Transport). Wright StreetLite WF 3302 (SK18 TKO) was new in May 2018. Lynx is the trading name of Coastal Red Limited. Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied VDL DB250 54 (YJ05 PXA) had been new to Konectbus in May 2005.

SK68 TXM seen turning from Albion Street to Railway Road just after leaving King’s Lynn bus station working town service 2 to the North Lynn. It is a Wright StreetLite DF new in December 2018 as a demonstrator with base white paint job rather than company dark blue. King’s Lynn is colloquially referred to as Lynn and has parts of the town named North Lynn and South Lynn. Across the River Great Ouse is the village of West Lynn (linked by a small (pedestrian only) ferry otherwise a 3 mile ride by road and the river bridge). As far as I know there isn’t an East Lynn! (although an East Lynne in literature).

King’s Lynn is a small port town located on the River Great Ouse which flows into The Wash on the east coast of England. The port specialises in the handling cargoes of forest products, agribulk, manufacturing and recyclable products. The town is colloquially referred to as Lynn and has parts of the town named North Lynn and South Lynn. Across the River Great Ouse is the village of West Lynn linked by a small (pedestrian only) ferry otherwise a 3 mile ride by road and the river bridge. As far as I know there isn’t an East Lynn! (although an East Lynne in literature).
