Yelloway (ATL) B668 DVL and LES 667X (STT 602X, 4040 SC) at Rochdale – 2 Aug 1985 (23-30)
Friday 2 August 1985 - In July 1985 Yelloway Motor Services which had been managed by the Allen family for more than 50 years was sold to a new owner. Changes ensued which might have portrayed an air of an optimistic future that sadly was not going to be.

The new owner was Carlton PSV Sales which held the UK Neoplan dealership so this resulted in a number of already used Neoplan vehicles immediately entering the Yelloway fleet replacing the quality Leyland Tiger coaches bought in the final years of the old order.

Two Neoplan Skyliner double deck coaches are seen here at Weir Street, Rochdale soon after the takeover.

Left is B668 DVL, new in July 1985, was painted in the Yelloway fleet colours in a newly adopted style but at the time was unlettered.

Right is LES 667X new in November 1981 to Trathens Travel, Yelverton registered STT 602X. It was later operated by Stagecoach of Perth (registered 4040 SC) and then re-registered LES 667X. In all white livery with Yelloway sunrise fleetnames.
