Chambers A211 JDX at Bury St. Edmunds – 21 May 1994 (223-10)

Saturday 21 May 1994 – H C Chambers and Son Limited of Bures, Suffolk has operated a motor bus service between Bury St. Edmunds and Colchester via Lavenham, Sudbury and Bures since the 1920s although the business began in 1877 with horse drawn vehicles between Bures and Sudbury.

A211 JDX, a Duple Dominant bus bodied YMT new in March 1984, was seen on Angel Hill, Bury St. Edmunds around mid-day ready to work the service to Colchester. Chambers operated a few of this type each seating 63 passengers achieved by the use of a 3+2 seating layout.

The company had been facing competition on its old established services and signs were displayed on the buses which read ‘THIS IS YOUR REGULAR AND RELIABLE BUS SERVICE – BEWARE OF IMITATIONS’.
