Ipswich Buses 82 (B82 NDX) - Feb 1987 (45-21A)
February 1987 – ‘Why are so many buses called ‘Dennis’? Ipswich Buses does name its buses and 82 (B82 NDX) carries the name of ‘Margaret Catchpole’ in the ribbon above the Dennis plate. Ms. Catchpole born near Ipswich in 1762 was a house servant later convicted of stealing a horse. She was sent to Ipswich Gaol although subsequently escaped. Following her recapture she was transported to the penal colony in New South Wales, Australia where she spent the rest of her life dying there in 1819.
A Dennis Dominator with high backed seating in its East Lancs body, new in April 1985. Seen at Tower Ramparts bus station.
