Buses at RAF Mildenhall Air Fete – 24 May 1997 (355-15)

Saturday 24 May 1997 – Double deckers parked at RAF Mildenhall during the annual Air Fete. Left to right:

Mulleys Motorways FRP 907T, an Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol VRT that had been new to United Counties (907) in April 1979. In 2023 this vehicle was being used in Italy for camping accommodation.

Ipswich Buses 40 (M640 EPV) and 42 (M42 MPV) which are East Lancs bodied Volvo Olympians new in April 1995.

Capital Citybus 168 (L888 TTT), a Northern Counties Palatine 2 bodied Volvo Olympian. This was apparently a pre-production model of the Volvo Olympian (built in late 1992? Entering service in October 1993??). The Olympian model name had originated with Leyland Motors. The chassis number was SLVYNF21XPCO25001 which started a new series and such is the significance of this bus that it has been secured for preservation by the Bromley Bus Preservation Group.
