SELNEC 6401 (247 STD) in Rochdale - Nov 1972

SELNEC 6401 (247 STD) in Rochdale - Nov 1972
November 1972 - The SELNEC PTE (South East Lancashire North East Cheshire Passenger Transport Executive) was created in 1969 and absorbed 11 former municipally owned transport undertakings. The smallest constituent was Ramsbottom Urban District Council Transport Department.

SELNEC 6401 (247 STD) was an East Lancs bodied Leyland PD2/24 that had been new as Ramsbottom UDC number 1 in January 1964. It was now allocated to Bury garage and in this view had found its way to working from Bury to Rochdale on service 19 that was previously worked by the municipalities of those two towns. In the background is a former Rochdale Corporation Weymann bodied AEC Regent V which unlike 6401 had been painted in the colours of its new owner.
