DSCN4797 Brighton and Hove 849 (Y849 GCD) - 27 Sep 2010
Monday 27 Sept 2010 (0856) – Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company (Go-Ahead Group owned) 849 (Y849 GCD), a Dennis Trident 2 with Plaxton President body new March 2001, picking up passengers in St. James’s Street. Most of the company’s buses carry names of people having a connection with
the Brighton area. Edwin Fownes, born in 1851, was a well known four-in-hand coachman based in Brighton driving horse drawn coaches between Brighton and London. He retired in 1916 but did not die until 1943 by which time all the horses used for transport had long gone.
