ECOC VP88 (M588 ANG) (M415 TET) in Southwold – Aug 1995

ECOC VP88 (M588 ANG) (M415 TET) in Southwold – Aug 1995
August 1995 – Eastern Counties Omnibus Company VP88 (M588 ANG) seen in High Street, Southwold. It was one of ten such buses that had been ordered by the Mainline Group in South Yorkshire for a proposed operation in Ipswich under the name of Mainline Ipswich. Mainline ordered the buses and obtained an operator licence in the name of Don Valley Coaches trading as Mainline Ipswich. However before the operation commenced talks between Mainline and the GRT owned Eastern Counties Omnibus Company resulted in ECOC taking delivery of the buses and Mainline surrendering their operator licence. The ten buses that became ECOC’s VP84-93 (M584-593 ANG) were to have been registered in the M-TET series (in mixed order) and VP88 would have been registered M415 TET. Service buses no longer come this far up the High Street to turn round in the Market Place. Nowadays they turn round near the Kings Head pub where the High Street becomes Station Road. (Taken with a disposable camera).
