Eastern Counties VR166 (MCL 942P) and VR195 (TEX 405R) stuck between Mildenhall and Barton Mills - 7 Aug 1981

Friday 7 August 1981 (approx. 1445) – Two Eastern Counties Omnibus Company double deckers stuck on Station Road between Barton Mills and Mildenhall. Earlier in the day a milk delivery truck had slid into the ditch and the County Council gang were just finishing off the tidying up of the verge – although no one thought to warn other traffic of the situation. Both buses are Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol VRs, VR166 (MCL 942P) was working the 1355 service 970 from Bury St Edmunds to Lakenheath and VR195 (TEX 405R) was working the 1355 service 971 from Lakenheath to Bury St. Edmunds.
