Those 35kV insulators are just stupid though. There's no 35kV distribution in Connecticut. The only lines requiring this level of insulation are the 27.6kV lines, which are used primarily for subtransmission. Wooden arms and 25kV insulators are definitely the way to go!

I guess I'm old school...this new stuff just don't do it for me. I just don't see all this new material still in service 50 years from now, where the old material stayed up for a 100 years and became a collectable and historical at times. I rather have a sky yuk insulator any day than any polymer up in service. I do like the shot though!
