Serge, the docks are built on high stilts which gives the impression that the water is low. In the open ocean (like on this small island 70 km from the mainland) there is almost no tidal range - closer to the coast, this range is much greater.

Merci Marie-Claire. Ce sont d'anciens ateliers des pêcheurs de l'île, maintenant classés monuments historiques. Aujourd'hui ils servent de pubs, galeries, cafés et magasins de souvenirs.
