Guichelheil is een samenstelling van guichel (gekheid of razernij) en heil (helen), omdat men dacht dat guichelheil geestesziekten en melancholie kon genezen.
Anagallis komt van het Griekse woord anagelao (ik lach), eveneens vanwege het vermeende effect dat melancholie door het gebruik van dit plantje kon worden verdreven.
Arvensis betekent op akkers groeiend.

IOt's such an understated little beauty, Christien . You may be interested to know that the Scarlet Pimpernel is also called poor man's weather vane because as weather cools, the flowers fold up till the sun comes back out. It must have been full sunshine when you took this photo

And indeed, I took this picture in the same time as the two butterflies in this row. It was a sunny day. I was very happy that I could make this one around the ground / (earth)...
